Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Plate

Cold rolled carbon steel plates are a versatile and high-performance material widely used in automotive, construction, appliances, and industrial applications. Their superior surface finish, dimensional accuracy, and enhanced mechanical properties make them ideal for demanding environments. While they may have a higher cost compared to hot rolled steel, their precision, durability, and aesthetic appeal justify the investment.

Description

Product Description

Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Plate is a type of metal plate made from an iron-carbon alloy, where the carbon content does not exceed 2.11%. Based on the carbon content, carbon steel plates can be categorized into three main types: low carbon steel plates, medium carbon steel plates, and high carbon steel plates.

Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Plate is a type of steel product that is manufactured by cold rolling, a process that involves passing the steel through rollers at a temperature below its recrystallization point. This process enhances the mechanical properties and surface finish of the steel. Below are some key characteristics and applications of cold rolled carbon steel plates

Characteristics of Cold Rolled Steel Plate

1. High strength: carbon steel plate has high strength, which can meet the needs of various structures. which is high Carbon steel plate has the highest strength, but poor toughness, and is suitable for occasions requiring high strength.

2. Good plasticity: carbon steel plate has good plasticity, and can be processed by cold processing and hot processing Forming and processing in different ways to meet the needs of different shapes.

3. Good welding performance: carbon steel plate is easy to weld, and multiple carbon steel plates can be welded by welding process The steel plates are joined to form structures of larger dimensions.

4. Poor corrosion resistance: carbon steel plates are prone to rust in humid environments and require anti-corrosion treatment management to prolong the service life

Grades and Specifications

Cold rolled carbon steel plates come in various grades, each with specific properties tailored to different applications. Common grades include:

  • AISI 1008
  • AISI 1010
  • AISI 1018
  • AISI 1020

These grades differ in terms of carbon content, tensile strength, and other mechanical properties.

Characteristics of Cold Rolled Steel Plate

  • Smooth Surface Finish: Cold rolling produces a smoother and more polished surface compared to hot rolling.
  • Dimensional Accuracy: Cold rolled plates have tighter tolerances and more precise dimensions.
  • Improved Strength: The cold rolling process increases the strength and hardness of the steel.
  • Better Surface Quality: The process reduces surface imperfections and scale, resulting in a higher-quality finish.
  • Thinner Gauges: Cold rolling can produce thinner sheets and plates compared to hot rolling.

Advantages And Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Enhanced Mechanical Properties: Higher strength and hardness.
  • Superior Surface Finish: Better appearance and reduced need for additional finishing processes.
  • Precision: More consistent thickness and flatness.

Disadvantages

  • Cost: Generally more expensive than hot rolled steel due to the additional processing.
  • Limited Thickness: Not suitable for very thick plates, as the cold rolling process is more effective on thinner materials.

Supply Conditions

(1) Cold Rolled Carbon Steel Plate and strips should be supplied in the state of heat treatment (annealing, normalizing, tempering after normalizing). If there are special requirements, the heat treatment method can be specified in the contract after mutual agreement between the supply and demand parties.

(2) Steel plates and strips should be delivered flat.

Note:

1.For Steel Plates and strips with a thickness less than 2mm, the elongation is allowed to be reduced by 1% compared to the provisions in this table

2.When the steel plates and strips supplied in the normalized state meet other requirements specified in this standard, the tensile strength is allowed to increase by 50MPa compared to the upper limit specified in this table.

3. For steel plates and strips made of 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 50 steel, when annealed to form spherical pearlite, the provisions for tensile strength and elongation are shown in Note 4 of Tables 5-22.

4. The drawing level is divided into three levels:

-Deep drawing grade - z;

-Deep drawing grade - S;

-Normal drawing grade - P.
