Characteristics Of Copper Rod Products

Feb 06, 2024

A brass rod is a cylindrical object crafted from an alloy of copper and zinc, distinguished by its characteristic yellow hue. Brass typically contains 56% to 68% copper, with a melting point ranging from 934 to 967 degrees Celsius. Known for its excellent mechanical properties and wear resistance, brass is widely used in the production of precision instruments, ship components, and firearm casings.

The color of brass varies depending on its zinc content. For instance, brass with 18% to 20% zinc appears reddish-yellow, while a zinc content of 20% to 30% results in a brownish-yellow shade. Additionally, brass produces a unique, resonant sound when struck, making it the material of choice for both Eastern musical instruments like gongs, cymbals, bells, and horns, as well as Western brass instruments.

Classification

Brass rods are available in various grades, including:

Common Grades: H59, H59-1, H59-2, H59-3, H60, H60-2, H62, H63, H65, H68, H70, H80, H90.

Specialized Alloys: C1100, C1020, C2680, C2800, C2600, C2801, C5191, C5210, C2200, C7521, C7541, C17200, C1070, C7701, QSn6.5-0.1, QSn8-0.3, QSn4-0.3, BZn18-18, BZn15-20, CuBe2, and more.

Among these, 58-3 and 59-1 brass rods are classified as free-cutting brass, which can be further divided into environmentally friendly and standard types. Authentic 58-3 and 59-1 brass rods are typically produced using extrusion technology, which ensures superior tensile strength, high hardness, and excellent straightness compared to those made by conventional continuous casting methods. These high-performance brass rods are extensively used in precision components such as automotive parts, medical devices, and electrical accessories.

Applications

Brass rods are utilized in a wide range of industries and applications, including:

Piping Systems: Air conditioning pipes, refrigerator pipes, oil pipes, and water supply pipes.

Mechanical Components: Structural parts, friction accessories, and supporting materials for machinery.

Automotive Industry: Synchronizer gear rings and other precision parts.

Marine Engineering: Pumps, valves, and structural components for ships.

Musical Instruments: Gongs, cymbals, bells, horns, and Western brass instruments.

Brass rods are valued for their versatility, durability, and aesthetic appeal, making them indispensable in both industrial and artistic applications.
