On the other hand, the hot rolling process is well-suited for mass production, offering cost efficiency without compromising quality. Commonly used grades for pure copper bars include T1, T2, T3, and C1100. These bars comply with international standards such as ASTM B187/B187M-18, ASTM B301/B301M-13, GB/T 5231-2012, and GB/T 2059-2017, ensuring consistent performance and reliability across various applications.

 

 

ASTM B187 covers two main application categories:

1. Electrical Copper Materials (for electrical bus bars, conductor bars)

These coppers are primarily used for electrical (bus bar) applications and have high conductivity requirements.

2. General Purpose Copper Materials (for general bars, rods, shapes)

These coppers can be used for electrical applications as well as general engineering applications where lower conductivity is acceptable.

Temper: According to the ASTM B187 standard, products are typically supplied in two tempers:

O60 (Soft Annealed): Good ductility, subsequent forming and processing.

H04 (Hard): Higher strength and hardness obtained through cold working.

Hot Forging Note: The standard explicitly states that for hot forging applications, reference should be made to a different standard: ASTM B124/B124M, not B187.

Standard Applicability: Unless otherwise specified in the contract or order, products may be furnished from any of the coppers listed above. Other coppers may be used by agreement between the supplier and purchaser.
